When A Rejected Poem Speaks

You rejected me.

I’ve been tossed away again.

What is wrong with me?

Why do some people dislike me?

My creator birthed me

To educate and inspire

To motivate and transpire

To ruminate and inquire

About everything in the world.

I refuse to accept

Your dismissal of me

As grounds for my ultimate

Unworthiness in the literary world.

My creator and I idumbulu

In frustration and jest

For I am not trash,

She and I both know it.

I will continue to exist

Even though you reject me.

Your hatred of my form

And style I’m written in,

Won’t stop me from being.

I am as good as the others,

I won’t be dismayed by you.

Your constant rejection

Will never, EVER silence me.
